A Layoff Tracker - Techcrunch takes the time to Create a Layoff Tracker… Really? Techcrunch Really?

It is as close as Techcrunch will be to FuckedCompany, a Layoff Tracker, but I can’t help but be struck by the fact that they are calling out the fact that Techcrunch is getting all the inside information!

I will obviously keep updating any Web 2.0 Company News that I come across.

I want to talk anyone who has made a comment so far, it is driving me to continue documenting the insanity that is going on right now.

It is only going to get worse before it gets better…

October 2008 will be remembered as the time in which the credit crunch came to a head not only for the economy as a whole but for the tech community in particular. Startups have begun preparing themselves for a bleak and uncertain economic future by cutting costs and focusing on efficiency. This has been achieved most obviously through layoffs, which can reduce burn rates quickly and dramatically for web companies that require little physical capital.

We’ve begun tracking all of the relevant layoffs in the tech sector below. If you know of any that have been overlooked, please submit a tip using the form below.

This is all very interesting, however if I may add a suggestion, expand your searches beyond tech related organizations.
The layoffs in other industries are just as noteworthy. I think you will draw a larger fan base if the topics were varied.
I heard just this morning that ALL Mervyn’s stores are due to close, not just the selected locations as mentioned originally.
